Thanks. I do appreciate your quick response and effort to help.

With respect, though, my server host is Rochen, which is apparently also the host for joomla.org and optimized for Joomla.

Perhaps I should create a ticket with Rochen support but I don't know exactly what help to ask of them.

Please tell me what you need from me to help find a solution.

Yes, 64bit is set in configuration.

Still getting "empty body" error for pdf files.

i ran into this issue also, upon checking the files i found:
\libraries\ifile\servercheck\LuceneServerCheck.php
const BINARIES_DEFAULT = '/usr/bin/pdftotext'
changed it to adapter/helpers/binaries/linux/pdftotext

then chmod 0755 check on this binary works properly thereafter.

Well, I was about to send you a big kiss but, sorry, it didn't work.

I found the line and changed it to this:
const BINARIES_DEFAULT = '/adapter/helpers/binaries/linux/pdftotext';

Right? Directory and file are both 755.
