Hi,
I am wondering if jifile search plugin is accent and case insensitive, and if not, is it possible to have it accent and case insensitive (because i'm doing a site in french, so with accents in words) ? Thanks in advance for your replies. |

Hi giampaolo,
I'v attached an example file (in french, and therefore containing accented words). For example after having uploaded the file on my site, and having it indexed by Jifile, if I search for the word "scanné", it will return a result, but if i search for the word "scanne", no results will come up. The same will happen if you search for the "après" or "apres". Moreover, it seems the the search does not work for single accented letters like "à"....if I search for "à" no results is returned.... ==> What I would like, would be to have the same results in both cases, if I search (for example) for "scanné" or for "scanne", i.e. accent insensitive search. Thanks in advance for your help and support.

Hi,
if in your file isn't present the token (word) "scanne" (in your file exist only "scanné" word) you don't search this word. JiFile retrieves the content from the PDF file (as written) and indexing this. If the PDF does not have the word "scanne" you can not search for it. For this problem you can use the an Stemmer Analyzer for French language, but I can not help you for this (for now exists for zend lucene only Stemmer for English languages). For search of single char "à" in JiFile working properly (see image) This image is hidden for guests. Please log in or register to see it. for plugin the problem is than joomla, for the default, research takes a minimum of 3 characters for plugin search starting (see images) WORKS: This image is hidden for guests. Hi giampaolo,
Thanks for your replies. So considering them, I understand the following: - "à" is not found because you need at least 3 characters in joomla search. - JiFile retrieves the content from the PDF file (as written) and indexing this, so if "scanne" is not in the PDF it can't be found by the search...it means that currently Jifile canno't be accent insensitive. OK for those explanations, I will use it like that. But, I have another question/problem....if we consider the file I've sent previously in this topic, here are some example I do not understand: - search for "il est aussi accessible" ==> 1 result found with search all word and 1 result found with search exact phrase - search for "le programme s'ouvre" ==> 0 result found with search all word and 1 result found with search exact phrase - search for "Une fois le Scan terminé" ==> 1 result found with search all word (but not very relevant considering the highlighted terms) and 0 result found with search exact phrase giampaolo, could you please help me to understand those results and help me to correct things if necessary/possible...it could look like the character "'" gives some trouble to the search in example n2, and that character "é" gives some trouble to the search in example n3....what do you think , Thanks in advance for your support. |
