TOPIC: Setting default language for different locale

Setting default language for different locale 14 Mar 2013 20:50 #1072

Hi,

I didn't know how else to summarize my query, but my site is in English and French so of course I have the text set to {lang en}my text{/lang}{lang fr}the text in french{/lang} but that got me thinking that someone who let's say has a locale set to IT (which is neither EN or FR) has to see something and Joomla just wouldn't know what to show, correct?

So is there a setting like {lang all} that would be the default text showing for users with a locale not addressed on my site?

Thanks

If in your site you have only English and French should not be possible set another language.

Setting default language for different locale 02 Sep 2013 16:57 #1423

Hello,
i have similar question. If i have multilanguage web (e.g. 7 languages). But articles are in 3 languages only. For example text in italian is {lang it}, text in france is {lang fr} and i need display text in english in other languages except it and fr. But i dont want write next 5 tags for every language separately.

Is any possibility do this? Something like: {lang [other languages]}text display in other languages{/lang}

Thank You

Hi,
thanks for your answer. Your extension Easy Language is very good. I use it with K2, e.g. in category name {lang en}category{/lang}
{lang it}categoria{/lang} and this function perfect in FrontEnd. I am planing multilanguage web (about 7 languages), where members will be able to write blogs in more languages. And i want to use this extension. And feature like {lang default} would be to very helpful for me. I will like to donate you for this extension if i would to use it.
Best Regards
John

We're working but it is possible only do it for the contents in the articles, no menu, category or other, it's okay?

Yes, it is okay ;) . I am using native joomla multilanguage system for menu and separately tags for every language for category and looks function good.

NOTE: I am using K2, not native joomla contents.

Thank you very much,
John
