I am getting fopen failed to open stream Too many open files error. I am on Siteground.com. What might the solution be?
The administrator has disabled public write access.

I am trying to index pdf files, and even tried with a Word document, but the error is
fopen/home/silverf7/public_html/ifile_index//_2wcfs_<a_href=functionfopen>functionfopen</a>]_failed_to_open_stream_Too_many_open_files00:00:01
I uploaded 45 pdf files, and started to index them. On the first page some failed to index but 7 worked. Since then indexing only gives me this error, even on the Word document. I contacted Siteground.com. They suggested that if more than 30 files are open that I would get this error message.

First try to make an optimization, if it still does not work:
if you can, delete the index directory(ifile_index/) and try to re-index the files but this time a few files at a time (3/4), if they are very large, then one at a time.

OK, will try that. thanks for the reply.

Stop working. This is the error: Index_doesnt_exists_in_the_specified_directory
A reinstall does not fix this. Even tried deleting everything and then a reinstall. When going into Filesystem this error:
Current directory: pdf2/
Fatal error: Call to a member function query() on a non-object in /home/silverf7/public_html/administrator/components/com_jifile/models/lucene.php on line 110

You deleted the folder but you must not manually re-create it, it must be re-created automatically.

(/var/www/html/vzr/jdownloads/CCMA Library/CCMA Awards/2012/Limpopo/February/lp615 12.doc): fopen(/var/www/html/vzr/ifile_index//_2dro.cfs): failed to open stream: Too many open files

I successfully indexed about 100 000 using 3 separate crons - not running at the same time. I started to run 2 jobs similtaneously on 2 seperate directories, and now get this error.

Would be nice if I could run more than 1 job at a time, otherwise, the indexing takes over 6 hours.

Hi,
the problems is the Zend Lucene library.
Zend Lucene Library, locks index files, when you create an instance.
If you start two instances, the first instance that uses resorse of Zend Lucene, locks all index files, and the second instance not works.
