I am running Joomla 2.5 on linux (Bluehost server with SSH access)

I do not think I can include com_dotnet in my PhP since this is for Windows PHP.

Is this necessary to have JiFile index Word Doc files?

Hi,
this is not problem.
You can configure or PHP method or ANTIWORD (Antiword, if your server linux is at 32bit) for read your documents Word.

I have just found out that the com_dotnet isnt available for linux machines so i tried antiword but when it tries to index my document it says there is nothing in the body (when it has indexed properly in the past). it is also a pdf. can someone help me with this?

you must configured Antiword for job correctly.
