First --> a great search application, thanks a lot!
But nothing is perfect and I would really like the following improvements: a) If you could display also the number of matches in the result list of the documents (where the search-text was found) this would give a better impression about the significance of the search result. b) In case of searching in pdf documents, in many cases isn't used the AdobeReader but a special viewer, e.g. like flipviewer. This is often the case, when magazines or catalogs have to be searched and then displayed, which is also in my application the case. To provide this capabillity, my proposal is to have a kind of "ref-file" where a new "href-link" is pointing to annother target, than to the original pdf-file. Just to make the idea more clear: The document folder contains e.g. the "document_a.pdf" file: ../ifiles/document_a.pdf If a search match was found in this document, than this document is listet in the search-results and by clicking them it will be opened with the AdobeReader. My proposal is now to add a "ref-file" with the same document name in the ifiles-folder: ../ifiles/document_a.pdf ../ifiles/document_a.ref <-- and this file contains the new link: as an example: "../flip_docs/document_a/flipviewerxpress.html" (of course, this file has to be added by the user manually) In your program-logic of JiFile you have only to look if there is the same document file but with the ".ref" extension and in this case take the content of this file as "href-link target". Is there no ".ref" file, than take the link to the original ".pdf" file. That means your programm logic is still compatibel with the actual folder structure and documents, but is able to work together with other viewers as well. Of course, this is only an idea, perhaps you have a better idea, but I hope you recognized my request. Sorry I just see there is a "Richieste Feature" category, may be this contribution is better there? Thank you Rolf |
