Hi,
i installaed Jifile on my Linux based Joomla 2.51.
Report JiFile and check system marks all green.

In Option i have configured:
Filesystem Path /
Index path ifile_index/

I tried also others Filesystem path ...

So im experiencing two error message:
a) "Index_doesnt_exists_in_the_specified_directory" when enter in the control panel

In the ifile_index directory there is a file read.lock.file

b) "500 - Si è verificato un errore. - cache_dir is not writable" when click on Filesystem.

Which cache is ? the system cache on / or the administrator/cache ?
In both case i give 777 permission with no result.

the Index path is created automatically, so if you did manually delete the directory.

For the cache problem, check that the folder is writable: "administrator/components/com_jifile/cache/".

Attention:
In the filesystem path you have to put the folder containing the files to index (pdf, doc, excel, etc.), so if you just put /, takes all the files from the root of joomla.

thanks for the fast reply.

Cache problem is solved.

About directories structure, i have multiple directory that contains pdf to be indexed (most of them for retro compatibility reason) lile /dmdocuments, /jdownloads, /legis, /images, etc.

A desiderata may be a multi choice visual of directories tree.. :)

Anyway, setting the filesystem variable and clicking on Filesystem the application "exit" from joomla backend (see pic) and not work

Here is it:

Fatal error: Call to a member function query() on a non-object in /var/srv/http/xxxx/pub/17/v3/administrator/components/com_jifile/models/lucene.php on line 105

Please note that this is a development web site that is under /17/v3 directory.

Another error message say that Jifile was unable to create the ifile_index folder, on this web server file permission are applied to a group that contains the apache account and the ftp so i can modify CHMOD with ftpo client with no conflict.

seems unable to create the folder index "ifile_index" in the root of joomla.
Try to give write permissions to root and if it works resets the permissions as you want.

now file_index directory and read.lock.file have 777 but still not work

That error comes when the folder index is created manually.
In a correct situation, the index path is created automatically and contain the following files:
read.lock.file
segments.gen
segments_1
write.lock.file
