Hi

I have the extension working fine and I can create an Open Office PDF which is successfully searched.

I have a number of 10+ page PDF's that were designed in Indesign on Mac.
These files are indexed and in 'index -> detail -> body retrieve' the content is being pulled in to the body field.

However only searched words in the introtext return a result, none of the body content searched words are found.

I have tried all config options including the field options.

Setup Details
Apache2 on Ubuntu VPS fully up to date.
Joomla 2.5.6
JiFile 1.0.7

Regards

Thanks for looking at this.

I have done some more testing and it appears that it won't search past some special characters in the body text.

example: who's deciding
will find who but not deciding.

Hi,
the problem is the encoding of PDF file.

The XPDF, by default, retrieves and returns the text of the form "Latin 1" (ISO-8859-1).
If your PDF file is written in UTF-8, XPDF return dirty characters.

To change the type of enconding the XPDF file must be changed "xpdfrc" (present with version 1.1.4 of iFile) located in the folder
"libreries / ifile / adapter / helpers / binaries / xpdfrc /".
For example, if you want to work with documents that have a UTF-8 encoding, the file "xpdfrc" must be edited with a text editor going to add the following line:

textEncoding UTF-8

In this way the xpdf returns the text in UTF-8.

Remember that once encodind setting, it must be forever.

Thanks for the info.

I tried the following;

1) UTF-8
2) ISO 646
3) Mac OS Roman

2 and 3 load all the characters in index>detail, UTF-8 did not.
All will still not search passed certain characters.

Another example: before é after
before = true
after = false

Hi,
the index>detail read file, but not read from index.
If you want testing the index, you can configure "Body fields" as TEXT (remember text field is not performant).

if you write a mail at info[at]isapp.it and attach 2 or 3 file we can test the problem.

If you write, also, the encoding type for the PDF File, is perfect.
