Hi Antonio

many thanks for the update - just getting used to the complexities of Joomla... what fun it is

Following a frustrating but eventually successful installation of the Zend framework (which is, of course, required for the automatd cron) I am now working with setting up the cron job (on Windows). Could you give me an approximate indication of how long it should take to index 500 files that are 1.5Gb in size. I know that this is dependant on the server specifications but I am just trying to test it.

Will there be any error messages at the command line if it fails the index? It has been running now for 30 minutes and a check within the ifile_index folder shows that no additional files have been indexed...

If there are folders within the ifile folder will these be indexed or do all of the files need to be held within the one ifile folder?

Many thanks again and apologies if I am asking too many questions within one thread.

N.B. The results so far are fantastic so many thanks for the development of this module.....

Hi,
last week we have indexing 300 PDF files for 800MB with a VM - Windows Server 64bit, Quad Core Intel Xeon 3.2 GHZ and 4GB Ram in 1.5 day.
All files must be in the same folder, if you use the CRON.

Hi Giampaolo

Many thanks for that - it seemed to stick on the first document but a restart has shown more results.

Will any logs indicate how many files it has indexed?

If I add more files to the ifile folder (once the initial indexing is complete) will JiFile be aware that it has already indexed files?

In the setup I have set the duplicate option to "Yes" - will this have any issues when indexing i.e. will it reindex already indexed files?

Hi,
1.
log file, saves the result of index files.
If OK - file is indexed
If KO - file is not indexed

2.
If you add a new file in "ifile" folder, you can index this file with JiFile Panel Control.
If you add more files, and you want use "Cron Job", you configure duplicate option to "No" (if you configure "Yes", Jifile reindex all file), but when you start cron, this restart index from first file and write in log "File xxx Existing".

Hi Giampaolo

The indexing using cron went ok last night although I now have one question - how do I show the indexed files within search at the front end?

When I index individual files using the module (in Filesystem)they could be searched for on the front page search of the website.

N.B. Smart Search is disabled

Thanks for your continued assistance

Edit: Just noticed that each indexed file has (file not found) next to it. I will delete them all, increase the upload file size within php.ini and try again......

Hi,
if you want to search in "index files", you must enable "JiFile - Search" plugin and disable "Joomla! Smart Search" (JiFile not works with Smart Search).

All file indexed are searchable and downloadable from front-end.
